The Hawai'i Island Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is an organization dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality across Hawai'i Island. It focuses on addressing health disparities in underserved communities through education, training, and workforce development initiatives. By partnering with local schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations, AHEC aims to inspire and prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals. The center also provides continuing education for current practitioners, promotes health careers among students, and supports community health projects. Through these efforts, AHEC seeks to enhance the overall health and well-being of Hawai'i Island residents.
Pre-Health Career Corp
The Pre-Health Career Corp Program is a year-round free program for middle school, high school and college students who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare. PHCC’s purpose is to promote and support the development of a local healthcare workforce for Hawaii County.
AHEC Scholars Program
AHEC Scholars is a program that works to enhance access to quality healthcare, particularly primary and preventative care, by improving the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals via strategic partnerships with academic programs, communities and professional organizations.
